The Valley’s public education system is in pain because of state funding cuts.

Local school districts were forced to lay off teachers and administrators to balance budgets that were already underfunded by the state. Additional state cuts could threaten a quality education for our children.

You can help.

By approving overrides on the Nov. 3 ballot, voters enable school districts to hire teachers, maintain small class sizes and safe facilities, fund instructional materials and more.

Voters without children in public schools also benefit. Well-funded schools with high-achieving students attract families, which helps keep property values up.

We strongly recommend a yes vote on all measures.

Creighton Elementary

A $44 million bond would go toward acquiring property, building new schools and renovating existing structures. If the bond passes, homeowners will see a tax bill of nearly $150 annually for a home with an assessed valuation of $250,000. A yes vote is necessary to provide a safe and prosperous learning environment. These projects also improve a neighborhood’s appearance and encourage homeowners to reinvest in their own properties, which boost values.

The $3.4 million maintenance-and-operations override would continue with current class sizes, special education, music, art, after-school and other programs and instructional materials.

The cost is about $124 annually for a home with an assessed valuation of $255,821.
